Awards
Teams & Officers
Teams must enter 3 different categories to be eligible for each of the following awards within your classification.
If entering 4+ routines, only the top 3 scoring routines will count towards final average score.
- Superior Award – Awarded to Teams and Officers competing in less than 3 routines and scoring 85 or higher.
- Sweepstakes Award – Awarded to Teams and Officers receiving an average score of 85-89 on 3 routines.
- Super Sweepstakes – Awarded to Teams and Officers receiving an average score of 90 or higher on 3 routines.
- Judges Award – Awarded to Teams and Officers receiving an average score of 95 or higher on 3 routines.
- Technical Merit Award – Awarded to Teams and Officers receiving an average technique score of 23 or higher on 3 routines.
- Overall High Point Technique Award – Awarded to the Team and Officers, regardless of size, with the highest overall average in technique for 3 routines. Must have 8 or more teams to award.
- Precision Merit Award – Awarded to Teams and Officers receiving an average Precision score of 23 or higher on 3 routines.
- Overall High Point Precision Award – Awarded to the Team and Officers, regardless of size, with the highest overall average in precision for 3 routines. Must have 8 or more teams to award.
- Outstanding Choreography Award – Awarded to the Teams and Officers receiving an average choreography score of 23 or higher for any routine entered.
- High Point Performance Award – Awarded to the ONE performance with the highest total score of the day.
- Artistry Award – Awarded to the ONE performance selected by the Judges based on Musical Interpretation, Artistry and Performance Appeal.
- Best in Category (Studio/Community) Awards – Awarded to the Studio/Community Team and Officers scoring the highest score for each category (ex: jazz, pom, kick etc.) There will be one recipient in each category (Must score a 90 or higher to receive this award).
- Best in Category (Public/Private) Awards – Awarded to the Public/Private Team and Officers scoring the highest score for each category (ex: jazz, pom, kick etc.) There will be one recipient in each category (Must score a 90 or higher to receive this award).
- Best in Classification Awards – Awarded to the team with the highest average score for 3 routines in each Division and Classification (Public/Private and Studio/Community)
- TrendSetters Award of Excellence – Awarded to the top Teams & Officers who received the highest average total score for 3 routines (depending on the total number of entries)
- Overall Grand Champion Award – Awarded to the Team & Officers receiving the highest average total score for 3 routines in both the Studio/Community and Public/Private Divisions.
Duets, Trios, and Ensembles
- Time Limit 1.5 – 2.5 minutes.
- 5 minutes including entrance and exit.
- Three Adjudicator scores will be added to determine final scores and awards.
- Duets & Trios receiving a Superior rating of 95 -100 will be awarded a TrendSetters lapel pin for each performer.
- Public/Private schools and Studio/Community teams will be judged separately.
- Excellent ratings of 75 – 94 will receive a TrendSetters Ribbon of Excellence for each performer.
- Ensembles receiving a Superior rating of 95 – 100 will be awarded a TrendSetters lapel pin for each performer.
- Excellent ratings of 74 – 94 will receive a TrendSetters Ribbon of Excellence for each performer.
- Winner, 1st runner up, and 2nd runner up trophies will be awarded to the top 1, 2 or 3 scores in each division depending on the number of entries.
- All Public/Private School and Studio/Community teams will be judged separately.
- TrendSetters cannot be responsible for shipping awards or score packets that have been left at contest. Should this happen, arrangements for pick up must be made with the host school.
Solos
- Time Limit 1.5 – 2.5 minutes.
- 5 minutes including entrance and exit.
- Three Adjudicators scores will be added to determine final scores and awards.
- Superior ratings of 95 -100 will be awarded a TrendSetters lapel pin.
- Excellent ratings of 75 – 94 will be awarded a TrendSetters Ribbon of Excellence.
- Finalist will receive a TrendSetters Medallion.
- Winner, 1st runner-up, and 2nd runner-up trophies will be awarded to each age group depending on the number of entries.
- If a dancer enters more than one solo, only the highest score may final.
- Only Winner of each age group will perform during finals.
- All Public/Private School and Studio/Community teams will be judged separately.
- Age divisions will be Pre-K-K, 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12
Team Routines
- Time Limit 1.5 – 3 minutes not including entrance and exit. 5 minutes including entrance and exit. Please notify the office or make note on your Registration form if you exceed the total of 5 minutes so we can allow enough time in our schedule.
- Entries are grouped together according to the following guidelines:
- Public/Private Schools which include JV. and High School Teams
- JV Teams are grouped together regardless of team size (unless there are more than 5 JV teams) and are not eligible for Overall Awards.
- A minimum of 6 dancers will be required to be entered as a Team.
- NO Changes will be accepted after 5 days prior to the contest.
- Please take time to review all awards and requirements to be eligible to receive each award.
Dance Officers
- Time Limit 1.5 – 2.5 minutes not including entrance and exit. 5 minutes including entrance and exit. Please notify the office or make note on your Registration form if you exceed the total of 5 minutes so we can allow enough time in our schedule.
- Must consist of Dance Officers ONLY.
- JV and Varsity Officers will be judged separately.
- Each Teams Top 3 scoring performances will be averaged for the overall score for all specialty and overall awards. Please see awards section for descriptions.
- Please take time to review all awards and requirements to be eligible to receive each award.
Social Officers
- Social Officers are eligible to enter ONLY one performance in any of the categories offered.
- All performances are judged together regardless of style and classification.
- Time Limit 1.5 – 2.5 minutes, 5 minutes including entrance and exit.
- Performance must consist of Social Officers ONLY.
- A social officer line scoring an 85 or higher will be awarded a superior trophy.
- 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards are given depending on number of entries.
Elite Team
- Time Limit 1.5 – 2.5
- 5 minutes including entrance and exit.
- Three Adjudicator scores will be added to determine final scores and awards.
- All Elite Teams are grouped together no matter what Division or Size you are.
- The Elite Team cannot be comprised of solely dance officers. There must be team members as well.
- The Elite Team may not have more than 24.
- You may compete in as many categories as you would like.
- The Elite Teams Top 3 scoring performances will be averaged for the overall score for all specialty and overall awards except for the Overall Grand Champion Award.

Registration
TrendSetters is using a Registration System that is very similar to other dance companies.
You must set up your account before you can begin your registration process.
Please note that you will be required to type in each members information including whether the entry is faculty or dancer, first name, last name, birth date and year.
You can put the same birth date and year for each dancer, as that will not affect your registration. It is just currently set in the system. If you have any issues, please contact the office at 713-822 -7068 and we will talk you through the process.
